The Midnight Library of Stars

The Midnight Library of Stars

Long ago, in a quiet town where nothing exciting ever seemed to happen, there lived a curious boy named Keviñ. He loved books more than anything else. His room was filled with adventure tales, fairy stories, and maps of places that might not even exist. But one night, something happened that no book had ever prepared him for.

At midnight, when the clock struck twelve, a silver light glowed from his bookshelf. A single book slid out by itself and fell open on the floor. Its pages were blank—except for one glowing sentence: “The stars are waiting. Do you dare enter?”

Before Keviñ could answer, the book pulled him inside like a door. He landed—poof!—in the Midnight Library of Stars, a floating palace made entirely of starlight. The shelves stretched into the sky, filled with glowing books that whispered secrets of dragons, lost kingdoms, and magical inventions.

The librarian, an owl with shimmering silver feathers, greeted him. “Welcome, seeker,” it said. “Here, every child may borrow one star-book—but beware, for the story you choose will come alive.”

Keviñ’s eyes sparkled. He picked a book called The Phoenix’s Last Feather. The moment he opened it, fire burst into the air, and a magnificent golden phoenix appeared. Its wings lit up the whole library.

“Find my last feather before dawn,” the phoenix cried, “or I will vanish forever!”

Without thinking twice, Keviñ leapt onto its back, and together they flew across worlds hidden inside the library: deserts made of glass, oceans that sang lullabies, and forests where trees whispered riddles. At last, they found the phoenix’s last feather—hidden inside a crystal cave guarded by a shadow beast.

Keviñ, though trembling, remembered a riddle one of the whispering trees had told him: “Shadows fear the smallest flame.” So he lit a candle from his pocket, and the beast melted away. He grabbed the feather and gave it back to the phoenix.

The bird let out a triumphant cry, glowing brighter than the sun. “You have saved me. In return, I give you a gift—courage that will never fade.”

As dawn approached, Keviñ was whisked back into his bedroom. The book lay shut on the floor. But when he touched his pocket, the little candle was still there, burning softly without ever melting.

From that day on, Keviñ knew something amazing: the world might look ordinary, but magical doors can open at any time—especially if you dare to read.

Courage often begins with curiosity, and ends with reward.
